In Jefferson County Court
Alpha L. Haskett, age 46, of Fairbury, was arraigned in Jefferson County Court on Wednesday, November 1, 2023. Linda Bauer was the presiding judge. The defendant is charged with attempts of a class 4 felony, which is a class 1 misdemeanor.
Rory J. McGrory, age 60, of Steele City, was arraigned on a charge of second-degree criminal trespass, a class 3 misdemeanor.
Zachary A. Roland, age 23, of Fairbury, was arraigned on a charge of shoplifting a value of less than $500, a class 2 misdemeanor.
In Jefferson County District Court
Raquel A. Bredemeier, age 31, was arraigned on a new charge in Jefferson County District Court on Thursday, November 2, 2023, manslaughter, a class 2A felony that carries a possible penalty of 20 years in prison. The defendant is also charged with unintentional motor vehicle homicide, also a class 2A felony. Bredemeier is also charged with DUI (driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs), a class W misdemeanor punishable by 60 days in jail, a $500 fine, and a six-month driver’s license revocation. The charges stem from a three-vehicle accident on Highway 136 in 2021 that left a Deshler man dead and two others injured. David J.A. Bargen was the presiding judge.
Trace Peters, age 24, was sentenced to two years in the Nebraska Dept. of Corrections, with credit for 180 days time served, after pleading guilty to charges of possession of a controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence, both class 4 felonies.
In Gage County Court
Skyler L. Hutchison, age 27, of Wymore, was originally charged with possession of a controlled substance, a class 3 felony. He pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of attempt of a class 4 felony, which is a class 1 misdemeanor. He was sentenced to one year in jail, with credit for 27 days of time served.
In Gage County District Court
Christopher D. Drees, age 51, of Daykin, pleaded No Contest to first-offense DUI, a class W misdemeanor, and operating a vehicle to avoid arrest, a class 4 felony. In accordance with a plea agreement, charges of resisting arrest and speeding were dismissed. Sentencing is scheduled for December 21, 2023.
