Thunder Starts SeasonFor the newly formed Southern/Diller-Odell Thunder, a triangular match with Norris and Beatrice for the season opener showed promise but was a rough ending for the Thunder.In their first game the S.D.O Thunder would go up against Norris in a battle that had the Thunder walk their way onto the scoreboard to score two runs in the bottom of the third, but were unable to do so again.Norris would answer that with two runs in the top of the fourth with a home run, and then score three runs in the top of the fifth as S.D.O was unable to garner any more offense in the first game losing 2-5.Reegan Lauby led the team going two-for-three and scoring one run. Karrigan Henrichs on the mound for S.D.O would go five innings allowing three hits, five runs, five walks and six strikeouts.S.D.O was able to have more offense, but errors spelled disaster as they would have four and fall to Beatrice with a final score of 4-12.Racking up six hits and being led by Maddie Parde going two-for-two with one of her hits being a double, Karrigan Henrichs led the team with RBI with three with her one hit of the night being a home run that brought in Savannah Mason and Maddie Parde.Reegan Lauby, Gaby Long and Jaidyn Allington would also contribute one hit as well.Henirchs on the mound again went four innings allowing eight hits, five walks, 12 runs and five strikeouts. S.D.O Thunder were looking to regroup as they went on the road up against Aquinas on Saturday, August 19. However S.D.O Thunder were unable to get the bats going lose that one on the road with a final score of 0-7.S.D.O will be on the road for their next game on Thursday, August 24 as they take to the road going against Falls City.Offense Can’t Get Going For FHSFairbury Jeffs were unable to get out of the gate losing to Freeman 0-10 on opening night. Ava Kroll was the lone hit for the Lady Jeffs with her one hit being a double. Olivia L’Ecuyer started on the mound allowing four hits and nine runs, seven of them earned, over one and two-thirds innings, walking eight and striking out one.Fairbury looked to bounce back with plenty of competition headingContinued From Previous Pagetheir way as they were on the road for a quadrangular at York on Saturday, August 19.Fairbury would strike first on the scoreboard against Cozad, but would fall 2-7, and would then be shut out 0-11 against the Crusaders. Wolverines Blanked At TriangularWilber-Clatonia can’t get the bats going to keep pace as go 0-2 in triangular competition at Raymond Central.W-C would be against Raymond Central to start the night off and had to fend off 23 runs being scored in the first two innings, but would score two in the top of second and six in the top of the third all through base on balls and stolen bases.Leading the way on the base-pads was Mika Chlupacek with two, Savannah Lowery, Alexis Kreshel, and Samantha Novak each contributed one stolen base as well before the final score would reach 8-23 in that loss.In the following game W-C would fall to Aquinas with the final score 0-12 on Thursday, August 17.Wilber-Clatonia hoped to find the bats for quadrangular action on Saturday, August 19 at Milford, but ran into offensive troubles losing against Milford Eagles and then Nebraska City with both games ending with a final score of 0-12, and then would lose to Cass Varsity 1-20.
