GirlsWith the regular season coming to a close, the girls wrestling was looking to make the most before entering Sub-District competition coming this Saturday, Feb. 3 at Crete.Titans Runners-UpRacking up 83 team points for second place, the Thayer Central Lady Titans were at Amherst on Saturday, Jan. 27.A quartet consisting of Keirsten Heinrichs, Braelyn Degenhardt, Savanna Wiedel and Libby Herogtt each were able to place second in their divisions. Also competing for Thayer Central was Kayelynn Luna, Anessa Baines, Kinley Casey, Alicia Workman, and Aydrian Meyer.Jeffs At Huge InviteThe Fairbury Lady Jeffs placed seventh among 23 schools as they scored an even 90 points as a team at the Raymond Central Invite on Saturday, Jan. 27.Leading the way for Fairbury was Addison Marschman taking first in the 235-pound division going 3-0 with each win coming by way of pin. Regan Kapke placed fourth in the 115-pound division going 2-2 on the day, while Zoey Frerichs was able to place fourth as well in the 130-pound division.Mailee Garner was able to place fifth in the 140-pound division and Heidi Ramos in the 155-pound division was sixth.Also competing for Fairbury would be Gabriella Herrera, Abigail Hynek, Rylee Gill, Danika Corbin, Reese Stone, Marly Brinkmann and Olivia Hackler.Naiman, Buresh At Warcat InviteThe Meridian Lady Mustangs had the duo of Alyssa Naiman and Hailee Buresh competing at the Warcat Invite on Saturday, Jan. 27.Naiman in the 120-pound division was able to take first, and Buresh took third in the 135-pound division. Boys:Mustangs One Of Top Teams At Warcat InviteThe Meridian Mustangs were able to place among the top three at the Warcat Invitational as they score a team total of 84.5 points giving them third.Plenty of top placements for the Mustangs, the efforts coming by JD Adam in the 165-pound division going 4-0 with three wins by pin, and one decision. Jackson Huls would go 5-0 in the 138-pound division as he finished his day with four pinfall victories and one major decision. Ky Sones went 2-0 taking first in the 285-pound class with each win by pin, while Carter Haverluck placed second in the 126-pound division, Coby Huls took third in the 157-pound division, Braiden Durflinger managed sixth, and Sam Thomas was able to place eighth in the 157-pound division.Meridian will be competing at the CRC Conference Invitational on Thursday, Feb. 1 to close out the regular season.Forney Leads RaidersThe Southern Raiders competed at the Raymond Central Invite placed 13th as a team scoring 42 points. Top efforts for Southern were by Wyatt Forney placing fifth in the 106-pound division going 3-2 with two wins by pinfall and one medical forfeit. Carsen Goes was able to place sixth in the 175-pound division gong 3-3. Also competing for Southern was Ashton Schrieber, Bladen Weiner, Kyen Troxel, Blaze Barleen, Kolten Ideus, Noah Troxel, Jacob Ward, and Josh Upton.Southern has one more meet as they will be at the CRC Conference Invitational on Thursday, Feb. 1 to close out the regular season.Trojans Conquer DT InvitePeaking at the right time. The Tri County Trojans took the top place of first scoring 144.5 points at the Doniphan-Trumbull Invite on Saturday, Jan. 27.The trio consisting of Cael Washburn, Cooper Stokebrand and Cole Spahr each took first in their division. Spahr in the 126-pound division was able to go 3-0 with two pinfall wins and one forfeit. Stokebrand in the 190-pound division went 3-0 with each win by pin, and Washburn in the 215-pound division went 3-0 with two pinfall victories and one tech-fall win.Toby Ambrose placed second in the 285-pound class, while Owen Lewandowski in the 113-pound division and Keyton Reck in the 132-pound division were able to place third in their division. Lucas Lewandoski in the 138-pound division, Gavyn Houston in the 150-pound division, Nick Sullivan in the 175-pound division and Luis Alacron in the 215-pound division each took fourth in their division. Sean Chase placed fifth in the 165-pound division, and also competing for Tri Count was Brodie Chase and Henry Holtmeier.On Friday, Feb. 2 Tri County will be at the Ron Severson Invitational to close out the regular season.SNC At David CityThe SNC Conference wrestling invitational was on Saturday, Jan. 27 at David City.The Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines were able to place among the top five with fourth place as W-C would score a team total of 121 points.Staying undefeated on the season as he would take first in the 113-pound division was Zaiyhan Ornelas going 3-0 with each win by pinfall. Iverson Mejia in the 138-pound division grabbed first as well going 3-0 with two pinfall victories and one sudden victory.Grant Eschiti in the 120-pound division was able to place second, and Carson Inderlied in the 106-pound division placed second as well. In the 165-pound division Lane Vesely and Jordan Marsh in the 150-pound division were each able to place third in their division. Keith Kvasnicka in the 285-pound division was able to place fourth.Also competing for W-C was Allen Odvody, Roberto Torres, Jonatan Zelaya, Ty Roesler and Ryan Marsh.W-C now looks to the Friday, Feb. 2 as they will be at the Ron Severson invitational to close out the regular season.Jeffs SixthThe Fairbury Jeffs were able to place among the top ten in the SNC conference with sixth as they scored a team total of 98 points. Leading the way for Fairbury was Konrad Kuzelka taking first in the 157-pound division going 3-0 with each win coming by pinfall.Riley Arner in the 165-pound division and Cody Berkenmeier in the 190-pound division each were able to place second. Jerik Johson in the 175-pound division, Garrett Roelfs in the 215-pound division and Gavin Gerths in the 120-pound division each were able to place third in their division.Also competing for Fairbury was Layne Fees, Freddy Leon, Dakota Zimmerman, Carter Johnson, Dalton VanLaningham, Nic Smith and Hayden Bear.Fairbury will be gearing up for dual action against Beatrice on Thursday, Feb. 1 and then have the Fairbury Invitational on Friday, Feb. 2 as they close out the regular season.Titans SeventhThe Thayer Central Titans placed among the top ten with seventh place as they scored a team total of 71 points. Leading the way for the Titans was Cole Voderstrasse taking first in the 215-pound division. Dylan Williams placed second in the 175-pound division, Nate Burd in the 190-pound division was able to place third and Mason Remmers in the138-pound division was able to place fourth.Also competing for Thayer Central was Anthony Congdon-Meyer, James Bonar, Colter Sinn, and Carson McLaughlin.Thayer Central will be at the Groundhog invite on Thursday, Feb. 1 and then at the Fairbury Invitational on Friday, Feb. 2 to close out the regular season.
