Fairbury Have Solid Outing At YorkThe Fairbury Jeffs medaled five at the York Invite on Dec. 2. Coming away with third place in the 215 pound division was Noah Hyson. Hyson went 3-1 securing the pin the quarterfinals, suffered the pin-fall loss in semifinals, but won the next two matches by decision.Gavin Gerths took fourth as he went 2-2 on the day in the 120-pound division. Gerths would secure one win with a pin-fall and one by decision. The trio of Riley Arner, Konrad Kuzelka and Dalton VanLaningham each placed fifth in their division. Arner in the 165-pound division went 3-2 having each victory coming by way of pin-fall. VanLaningham at 132 pounds went 3-2, two going by decisions and one pin-fall. At 175 pounds Kuzelka went 3-2 with each victory coming by pin-fall as well. Also competing was Hayden Bear,Cody Berkenmeier, Carter Johnson, Freddy Leon and Nic Smith. Looking forward to the end of the week as Fairbury is on the road as they head to the Crete invite on Saturday.Wilber-Clatonia Travel To O’NeillThe Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines had six medal at the O’Neill invite on Dec. 2. The medalist consisted of Zaiyahn Ornelas, Iverson Mejia, Jordan Marsh, Ryan Marsh, Lane Vesely and Logan Zimmerman. Ornelas was able to have a strong outing as he took first in the 113-pound division. Each win for Ornelas was by way of pinfall. After receiving a bye, Mejia would get a pinfall victory and a decision before losing by fall in the first place match finishing 2-1 in the 138-pound division. In the 132-pound division Marsh placed fourth. Marsh went 3-2, two wins coming by pinfall and one by tiebreaker 6-5. Marsh took second in the 150-pound division, finishing 3-1 with one pin-fall and two decisions. Logan Zimmerman at the 126-pound division would finish his invite 2-1 with both victories by pin-fall and Lane Vesely in the 165-pound division finished fourth going 3-1 as two wins were by pin-fall and one decision. W-C will be on the road as they head to the Crete Invite on Saturday.Multiple Area Schools At Arehart InviteOn Saturday, December 9th the school of Exeter-Milligan/Friend hosted the Bob Arehart Memorial Invitational with the likes of Tri County, Thayer Central, and Southern wrestling were in attendance for the competition to kick off the first weekend of wrestling.Tri County Led By SpahrFor the Tri County Trojans top placements came by the efforts of Cole Spahr taking first in the 126-pound division. Spahr was able to go 4-0 with each victory ending by pinfall. Cael Washburn was able to finish second in the 215-pound division, 3-1 with two victories by decision, and one pin-fall. Cooper Stokebrand in the 190-pound division placed second going 4-1 with a win by tech fall, two by pin-fall and a decision. Keyton Reck in the 138-pound division, Owen Lewandowski in the 113-pound division, and Toby Ambrose in the 285-pound division each finished fifth. Also competing was Lucas Lewandowski, Gavyn Houston, Sean Chase Jr, Luis Alarcon, Nick Sullivan, and Henry Holtmeier. Tri County will be at North Bend on Saturday.Titans Look Strong At Arehart InviteThe Thayer Central Titans come away with multiple medalist at the Bob Arehart Invite. Top performer was Cole Vorderstrasse in the 215-pound division going undefeated 5-0, taking first. Vorderstrasse would have four wins by pinfall and one by tech-fall. Colter Sinn at the 113-pound division took second going 3-1 with two wins coming by pinfall and one decision. Dylan Williams at 175 pounds went 4-1 with three pinfall wins and with his last match ending as a 8-7 decision placed him at third. Nate Burd was able to get third in the 190-pound division as he went 4-1 with each win by pinfall. Also competing was Kaleb Bonar, Gage Brown, Anthony Congdon-Meyer, Brighton Hergott, Carson McLaughlin and Mason Remmers. Thayer Central will be at Meridian on Saturday.Ideus Second For SouthernThe Southern Raiders were able to have a solid outing at the Bob Arehart Invite. Top placement was done by Kolton Ideus in the 138-pound division taking second. Ideus would finish 4-1, three pinfall wins and one medical decision. Bladen Weiner in the 285-pound division was able to get third (4-1), three pinfall wins and a tight 2-1 decision victory. In the 113-pound division Wyatt Forney went 3-1 with one tech-fall victory, one decision and one pin-fall giving him third place. Carson Goes in the 175-pound division placed fourth as his day ended 2-3 with his two victories coming by pinfall. Also in competition was Jacob Wart, Josh Upton, Noah Troxel, Kyen Troxel, Ashton Schrieber, Gage Hutchinson, and Blaze Barleen. Southern will be at the Osceola Invite on Saturday.Meridian Keeping BusyThe Meridian Mustangs had a full weekend as they 1-2 at the Thayer Central quad on Dec. 1 and competed at the Harvard Invite on Dec. 2. Taking the top placement was Kyan Sonees in the 285-pound division going 5-0 each win by pin. For Jackson Huls in the 150-pound division, coming up just short as he placed second ending his day with a record of 4-1 as each win came by pin. JD Adam in the 175-pound division grabbed third as he lost his first round with a 2-9 decision, but bounced back with two straight pin-fall victories and a 10-3 decision in the third place match. Carter Haverluck in the 126-pound division was able to place fifth as he went 3-2 on the day with each win by pin. Also in competition was Coby Huls, Braiden Durflinger, and Samuel Thomas. Meridian will be hosting the Bob Oliver Pin Invite on Saturday.GirlsFairbury’s Garner Wins At YorkThe Fairbury Lady Jeffs looked to start a new season at the York Invite on Dec. 1 and was led by Mailee Garner as she won the 145-pound division. Garner would go 5-0 on the day with four wins by pin-fall and one from forfeit. The duo of Rylee Gill and Addison Marschman each took third in their divisions. Gill in the 140-pound division would go 4-1, each win by pinfall and Marschman in the 235-pound division went 3-1 as her of her victories came by pinfall as well. Aspen Swanda in the 190-pound division and Olivia Hackler in the 114-pound division each took fourth. In the 170-pound division it was Gabriella Herrera and in the 110-pound division it was Clara Buxton as each would take fifth in their respective division. Taking sixth in their own division was Danika Corbin in the 125-pound class, Regan Kapke in the 120-pound division and Heidi Ramos in the 155-pound division. Also competing that Friday was Atheana Vega, Reese Stone, Rain Snyder, Neveah Ortiz, Alcia Jansen Van Rensburg, Abigail Hynek, Zoey Frerics, Jeyalena Delao, and Marly Brinkmann.Fairbury will be at the Crete invite on Friday.A Friday Fracas For TitansThayer Central Lady Titans started their season at the Friday Night Fracas at West Point on Dec. 1. Top efforts for Thayer Central was done by Keirsten Heinrichs taking fifth (115-pounds). Also in competition was Savanna Wiedel, Aydrian Meyer, Alicia Workman, Trinity Kendall, Libby Hergott, Izabella Habana-Lindeman, Kaelyn Buster, Anessa Baines, Kinley Casey, Barelyn Degenhardt, Mackenzie Hergott, Kayelynn Luna, JaeLynn Watson, and Alexis White.Thayer Central Lady Titans will be heading to the Wood River Tournament on Saturday.Wolverines On The Road To Start SeasonThe Wilber-Clatonia Lady Wolverines opening night of the season was at the O’Neil Invite on Dec. 2. Coming away with top placements was Faith Klebenes taking third in the 235-pound division going 1-2. Also competing for W-C was Marlee Lloyd, Jovani Nordhues and Diamond Thompson. W-C will be at the Crete Invite on Saturday.
