Rain Delays, But Baseball Finds A Way To Play

Fairbury Landsharks Seniors go 2-2 on the weekend as they grab a 4-2 victory against Concordia, but would then lose a close 4-5 against MVPCS on Saturday June 10. The Landsharks would lose late 2-5 against Dell Rapids, but were able to bring the bats to life in the last game as they got the 8-3 win against Crofton on Sunday, June 11. Against Crofton it was Brendon Runge starting off on the mound going three and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs and two hits and striking out three, to then be relieved by Jamison Runge throwing two and a third innings in relief. Jamison also led the team going perfect at the plate two for two with two runs scored, two walks, and one RBI. Jakolbe Atkins and Blayne Schelbitzki each managed one hit for the team as well. Fairbury Landshark Seniors now (5-8), will be on the road this week as they take on Sutton on the road to Adams on Thursday, June 15 and on Friday, June 16 will be up against Auburn. Hebron Seniors come alive to get into the win column this season. The Hebron Seniors finally can take a sigh of relief after a four game skid after the bats come to life with Hebron taking a 15-6 victory against UBCF Seniors. Toeing the mound was Jaron Norder getting the win going five innings allowing six runs on ten hits and striking out six. For the offensive side racking up 12 stolen bases, 11 hits, and 12 of the 15 runs by way of RBI as Hebron was led by Jacob Beavers driving in four RBI as he went two for four. Jaron Norder also was able to get multiple hits going two for three scoring two runs, one RBI and one walk, along with Cameron Harding going a perfect three for three with two stolen bases, two RBI, one walk and one run scored. Grant Wiedel, Will Heitman, Samon Thumann, and Hudson Brzon each contributed one hit with Brzon's one hit being the only extra bag with a double. Thumann was able to lead the team with four steals, Wiedel and Norder each had three, and Brzon had one steal as well. Hebron would carry this momentum into the next day on June 9, as Hebron would hold onto the 3-2 win against Geneva Seniors. Hebron looks to continue on with their winning ways as they will be hosting Wilber Wednesday at 8 p.m. with coverage from this game being in the Friday Digital edition. Tri County Seniors pull off a sweet shutout with a 16-0 against Adams to remain undefeated on June 9. Taking two pitchers to complete the shutout with Dusty Kapke and Henry Kapke taking the mound. Dusty Kapke started off on the mound going three innings allowing one hit, and striking out six, while Henry Kapke would come in to finish the job going one inning allowing no hits and ending the game with his one strikeout. Tri County was led by Dusty Kapke and Carter Siems each getting multiple hits with Kapke going a perfect two for two at the plate as he drew two walks, drove in three RBI’s to lead the team, and scored four runs. Siems would go two for three with one RBI, one walk and three runs scored. Cael Washburn, Colton Bales, Braydin Strouf Cooper Stokebrand, and Pierce Damrow each contributed one hit as well. Tri County carried the momentum into their next game as they win with ease 8-2 on the road against Marysville on June 11. Getting the win on the mound was Colton Bales going the seven innings allowing four hits, two runs with three walks, and eight strikeouts. Bales also managed to get multiple hits as did Dusty Kapke with Bales going two for three with two runs scored, one RBI and one walk while Kapke went a perfect two for two scoring two runs and drawing two walks. The trio of Caden Bales, Drew Siems and Braydin Strouf each managed one hit as well. Tri County will be looking to stay undefeated at 11-0 as they will be taking on Adams on June 16. Wymore goes 1-1 in the last week holding on to the close win 4-3 on the road against Hebron Seniors on June 6, but unable to find the runs needed and lose 1-6 to Tecumseh on June 11. Kale Magurie managed the one hit for Wymore going one for three. Maguire was also on the mound taking the loss as he went two and two-third innings, allowing four runs on six hits and striking out two. Wymore hosted Marysville and will be on a short break as they hit the road against Geneva on June 21 , and back home hosting Tri County on June 22, with coverage from these games in the Friday Digital Edition.Wilber Seniors go 1-3 in the week as they lose 4-12 against Jordan's Studio Post 331 and then 1-11 to Malcolm on June 10. Wilber would bounce back with a solid win in a close 3-2 victory against Chick-Fil-A Seniors and then would lose 3-5 against Crete June 11. Wilber looks to bounce back and get on the right track as they hit the road today going against Hebron at 8:00.
