Girls:The Meridian Lady Mustangs competed at the Beatrice Girls Invite on Jan. 5.Top performance was by Ty Gooding placing sixth in the 115-pound division going 3-3 on the day with each win by pin.Ally Krumewiede, Hailee Buresh, and Alyssa Naiman were also competing for Meridian on the Friday and Saturday at the Franklin Girls Invite on Jan. 6.Meridian will be back on the mat at the Superior invite on Friday.The Thayer Central Lady Titans rounded out the top 10 at the Beatrice invite on Jan. 5 scoring 78 points as a team.Top performances for Thayer Central came by Braeyln Degenhardt, Libby Hergott, and Kinley Casey. Degenhardt competed in the 130-pound division placing second as she went 2-1 with both wins coming by pin. Hergott went 2-2 in the 140-pound division with each win by pin-fall placing fourth.Casey in the 120-pound division was able to go 3-3, two wins coming by pinfall and one by major decision.Also competing for Thayer Central was JaeLynn Watson, Alicia Workman, Aydrian Meyer, Savanna Wiedel, Mackenie Hergott and Anessa Baines.Thayer Central will be back on the mat on Friday.The Fairbury Lady Jeffs round out the top five as the team scores 111 points. Top performances for Fairbury came by Mailee Garner, Addison Marschman, Heidi Ramos, Zoey Frerichs and Regan Kapke.Garner in the 140-pound division finished second as she went 2-1 with two wins by pinfall. Marschman in the 235-pound division went 3-2, placing third as each win came by pinfall.Ramos in the 155-pound division finished 3-2 placing fourth with each win by pinfall. Frerichs placed fourth in the 130-pound division gong 2-2 with each win coming by pinfall.Kapke placed fourth in the 115-pound division going 3-2 with two pins.Also competing for Fairbury was Reese Stone, Marly Brinkmann, Olivia Hackler, Clara Buxton, Dankia Corbin, Jeylena Delao, Athena Vega and Abigail Hynek. Fairbury will be back on the mat Friday at the Schuyler Girls Invite.Boys:Jeffs At Central CityThe Fairbury Jeffs place eighth at the Central City Invite on Jan. 6 scoring a team total of 98 points.Top performances by Fairbury came by way of Dalton VanLaningham taking third in the 132-pound division going 5-1, two wins by pinfall, two decisions and one major decision. Cody Berkenmeier was able to place third in the 190-pound division going 4-1 as he had two pinfall victories, one sudden victory, and one medical forfeit.Konrad Kuzelka in the 157-pound division would place fourth going 2-2 on the day with each win coming by decision.Gavin Gerths in 120-pound division, Freddy Leon in the 150-pound division, and Riley Arner in the 165-pound division were each able to place fifth in their division.Fairbury will be hosting a triangular on Thursday, and will then be at the Schuyler Invite on Saturday.Mustangs SeventhThe Meridian Mustangs scored 87 points to place seventh out of 18 teams at the Franklin Invite on Jan. 6.Top efforts from Meridian came by Kyan Sones, JD Adam, Coby Huls, Jackson Huls, and Carter Haverluck. Sones in the 285-pound division placed first going 4-0 with each win by pin-fall.Adam finished second in the 165-pound division with three pinfall victories. Coby Huls placed second in the 157-pound division going 3-1 with each win by pinfall.Jackson Huls would take third in the 144-pound division going 4-1 with three pinfall victories and one decision. Haverluck would place fourth in the 126-pound division going 3-2 with each win by pinfall.Meridian will be back on the mat for the Superior Invite on Friday.Trojans Host TourneyThe Tri County Trojans hosted their dual tournament on Jan. 5-6. T.C. was able to place third as a team as they went (5-3) from the tournament. Tri County was able to win their first round 53-30 against Auburn. T.C. would lose 18-62 to Lakeview. The Trojans bounced back with a 42-30 win against Republic County, won again 54-30 against Adams Central, lost 33-40 against Shelby-Rising City, then lost 24-55 against Fillmore Central. T.C. ended the tournament winning their last two rounds 60-15 against Albany, and then 40-34 against Falls City.Tri County will be at the Syracuse Invite on Friday.W-C Hosts DualThe Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines hosted the Wilber-Clatonia dual tournament last week. W-C was able to finish second as they went 3-1 with a 35-30 win against Arapahoe, 54-30 was the final score against Lincoln Christian, would beat Logan View with a score of 45-31, and then lost 36-46 against Milford.On Jan. 6 W-C competed at the Aquinas Invite. Top performances came by Lane Vesely, Jordan Marsh, Logan Zimmerman, and Grant Eschiti. Vesely went undefeated in the 165-pound division going 4-0 with three pinfall wins.Zimmerman, took first in the 126-pound division with two pinfall victories an one major decision. Marsh finished 3-1 as he was able to place second in the 150-pound division with two wins by pin-fall and one decision. Eschiti in the 120-pound division went 3-1 with two pin-fall victories and one tech-fall. W-C will be back on the mat with a triangular on Thursday, January 11th at Norris and then on Saturday, January 13th will be at Cross County. The Thayer Central Titans were able to take third at the Franklin invite on Saturday, January 6th scoring a team total of 120 points. Leading the way for Thayer Central was Cole Vorderstrasse taking first in the 215-pound division going 3-0 with each win by pin. Dylan Williams in the 175-pound division would place second going 3-1, each win coming by pin-fall. Carson McLaughlin would place third in the 138-pound division going 4-1, three wins by pin-fall and one by decision. While James Bonar in the 285-pound division would go 4-1, three wins coming by pin-fall and one decision giving him third. Thayer Central will be back on the mat on Friday, January 12th as they go to the Minden invite and then on Saturday, January 13th will be at the Gibbon Bill Foster invite. The Southern Raiders place seventh as a team scoring 81.5 points at the Malcolm invite. Top performances for Southern came by Bladen Weiner placing first in the 285-pound division going 3-0 with each win by pin-fall. In the 106-pound division Wyatt Forney was able to place third going 3-1 two wins by pin-fall and one tech-fall and Josh Upton in the 120-pound division would place fourth going 3-2, with one decision and two wins by pin-fall. Southern will be preparing to be back on the mat this Friday, January 12th at the Superior invite.
